ARCUS project (Action en Région de Coopération Universitaire et Scientifique) was initiated by MFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) of France and the Regional Council of Lorraine (Conseil Regional de Lorraine). At present time the project has derrived more wide encouregment from French part, particularly, the National Centre of Science Researches of France (CNRS) |

Concise description of the project

The main subject-matter of the project is "Materials and environment" meet both the economical and ecological requirements of the modern society. In addition, this subject-matter is a basis of present cooperation both in training specialists and joint science researches.
ARCUS provides grouping and coordinating of all kinds of the intercollegiate exchanges and cooperation (joint research works, symposiums and conferences, joint theses, students exchanges and forth) between the regional consortium of the French and foreign universities.
Science researches both in Russia and in France and also joint theses, reception of professors and research officers in the French laboratories, joint seminars are financed within the project.
The project will last for 3 years and its basic financing is 600 000 Euro (17,5 million rubles) |

The project is aimed at:
- strengthening present and developing new cooperation between institutes of higher education and research centers of one or several regions of France and foreign partners,
- organizing and supporting science researches both in Russia and France, and also joint theses, reception of professors and research officers in the French laboratories, joint seminars.

The project is controlled by the European University Centre of Lorraine on behalf of 4 universities of the region and research centers CNRS, and also three Institutes of higher education of Provance -Alp- Cot Azure. |
